Project Overview
The Village of Shorewood and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation selected Graef, Anhalt, Schloemer & Assoc. (GAS) to design the full reconstruction of 1.2 miles of E. Capitol Drive in the Village of Shorewood
from Estabrook Parkway to Lake Drive. All pavement, curb and
gutter, and sidewalk will be replaced as part of the project. Streetscaping
elements and street lights will also be incorporated into the proposed plan of improvement.
The project area includes six (6) signalized intersection with a seventh (7th) anticipated at N. Murray Avenue. E. Capitol Drive (STH 190) is an east –west primary arterial located north of Milwaukee in the Village of Shorewood. The project area has mixed land use of institutional, residential and commercial properties.
In addition to the roadway
reconstruction work, GAS will study
the feasibility of separating the combined sewer system between Oakland Avenue and Lake Drive. The existing Oak Leaf Trail structure over
Capitol Drive will be replaced as part of the project. Various options
will be evaluated for this gateway entrance to the
Village of Shorewood. Recommended alternates will be presented for public comment
in early 2008.
